The Mac app
The Mac app lets llamas run on your Mac, with your own Claude Code or Codex subscription, your folders and your connectors. Everyone else can use Llamabyt from the web.
Set it up
- Install Claude Code or Codex on your Mac and sign in to it.
- Install the Llamabyt Mac app (for Macs with Apple chips). During the private beta, the Llamabyt team sends you the download link.
- Open it and sign in (Google opens your browser, then hands you back).
- Go to Settings → Macs & folders and press Connect this Mac.
- In your llama’s settings, choose Where it runs → On my Mac.
Keep it running: llamas work while the app is open and the Mac is awake. When it’s asleep, their work waits, or runs in the cloud if you turned on Run in the cloud when my Mac is offline (Solo and up).
What a llama can reach on your Mac: only the folders you share with it, never the rest of your Mac. Running commands is off unless you turn on Allow running commands, and even then only for your own requests.
In a company: when owners and admins have llamas on Macs think with the company’s keys (Settings → AI keys → Llamas on Macs), your llamas don’t use your own Claude account. They need Claude Code and the Mac app 0.6 or later; Codex llamas don’t start under that rule yet.
